India | By Faith, and Not by Sight
October 28, 2009
“When I was young, I was notorious. Every day, I would get drunk and cause trouble. In spite of my heavy drinking, I was brilliant in my studies. I was even short-listed as a potential candidate to join the Air Force. I made it to the final round of interviews, only to fail the mandatory medical check-up. The medical results showed that I had an advanced stage of diabetes. I was only 23-years-old then, and I recall that the news was devastating.
In the early 90s, I began to lose the use of my legs, and I spent a large sum of money on treatment. Years later, I lost my sight. This time, the treatment was in vain. I was feeling utterly helpless, both mentally and physically. Then, someone directed me to God. I attended a prayer meeting, and Jesus touched me that day. Finally, I had found my rescue in prayer.
However, as I went to more prayer meetings, I experienced a deep thirst for the Word of God. My inner being wanted more! But I was blind, and I was unable to read anything…I was unable to read the Bible.
My friends were aware of my struggle, and one of them introduced me to TWR’s radio programs. It was then that I began to listen to the Malayalam programs produced by TWR-India. I remember listening to the first episode of Daiveeka Sparshanam (In Touch) program. Before then, I had heard many messages during our meetings, but I was impressed by the way the program taught the Bible. It was unique in its style and teaching approach, and I liked it.
Today, I continue to be nourished with the Word of God through TWR’s programs. Sometimes, I even share little messages with my prayer group. Although I am physically blind, I am able to see the divine truth.”
