“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

While playing with the radio channels, eighth grader Malathesh came across TWR’s program Thru the Bible.

Curiosity got the better of him, and soon he began tuning in regularly — for the next two years.

In 10th grade, Malathesh made a decision to follow Jesus.

Coming from a rural village, he had never heard the name of Jesus before he found the radio program. Today he listens regularly and writes to tell his story.

Trouble streamed in after he started attending church. He had publicly testified his belief in Jesus, which brought opposition from his family and fellow village people. He was ridiculed for reading the Bible and worshiping Jesus.

This did not shake his faith. In fact, it caused his faith to grow stronger.

One year during the Christmas season, the leaders of his village reported him to the police, accusing him of trying to convert the village people to follow Christ. The police pulled him out of his home and started interrogating him.

He was told to give up his faith in Jesus. Malathesh openly declared that he “will never forsake Jesus as he has tasted the love of Jesus.”

He was promptly taken to the police station.

Malathesh thought for sure he would be in more trouble. However, the police superintendent released a statement to the people who brought him to police station saying:

“If a boy is truly in love with a girl he will never forsake her at any cost. In the same way this boy whom you have brought must be in love with Jesus as he says he has tasted the love of Jesus Christ. So even if we punish him, he will never forsake Jesus. Therefore release him, let him go home as he is not harmful to any one of you.”

Malathesh was released and he went home praising God for his goodness and faithfulness.
