Japanese Youth Ministry

As Japan has become more affluent over the years, its beliefs have morphed into a sort of buffet, accepting temples, shrines and rituals from a vast array of religions. Still, becoming a Christian can be problematic, as family traditions are deeply held. 60 percent of Japan's 127 million people live in nuclear families, while slightly over 20 percent live in extended family units, or Ie. The Ie consists of a household of grandparents, parents, and children. Japanese are free to choose their own marriage partners; however, many marriages are still arranged. The divorce rate is one quarter of that in the United States.
Japanese youth, especially young women, are very interested in gospel music. To reach this audience, we are looking to develop audio content on the Internet with specially selected gospel songs to make them readily available to young people. It is hoped that listeners will be touched by the Holy Spirit through the lyrics of the songs and then share it with their peers. Through gospel music, they will be able to learn more about the Bible and get to know more about the Creator of the universe.
This online radio program will not only be aired in Japanese, but also in English to attract those who are interested in learning the language. Currently, the intent is to start small with a playlist of songs, though a deejay and live-streaming audio is an option as funds develop.
Your gift of $100 will make a lasting difference in the life of a Japanese young person.
