Philippines Outreach

The Philippines is an archipelago comprising more than 7,000 islands. Its population of about 90 million is predominantly Christian and Roman Catholic. However, worldly values depicted in popular media have had a negative impact, with many young people adopting behaviors and attitudes that they may not fully understand. Premarital sex, unwanted pregnancies, dropping out of school and drug abuse are all symptoms of this moral decay.

Through a combination of FM radio programs and on-the-ground follow-up, TWR seeks to minister to the women, youth and children of Philippines in projects such as (but not limited to) the following:

• Little Lights (Mumunting Kutitap) is a creative radio drama designed to appeal primarily to children, but it delivers content that is relevant to people of all ages. The program includes practical help (such as tips for what to do in case of an emergency), object lessons for children, and dramatized Bible stories. Little Lights is broadcast weekly, and each program is 30 minutes long. 
• Absolutely 24/7 is a 30-minute radio program for Filipino youth designed to challenge them to live their lives to the fullest for Christ. The program combines segments about Christian thoughts, family values and helpful tips with contemporary Christian music. Topics are carefully selected to offer biblical insights into daily problems, and they are presented in a way that connects with our young listeners. Absolutely 24/7 is broadcast weekly, and each program is 30 minutes long. 
• Through the Women of Hope program, TWR-Philippines’ Project Hannah team reaches out to Filipino women. The majority of responses are received from young women seeking advice on issues such as unwanted pregnancies and abortion. Our team offers a listening ear, biblical counsel, and help to connect these listeners with churches and various supports. The Women of Hope program is broadcast weekly in Tagalog, Cebuano and Ilocano, and each program is 30 minutes long.
