After the 2011 tsunami, radio was re-evaluated in Japan—opening the door for TWR (Trans World Radio) to share the hope of Christ with people in the tsunami-affected areas.

In Japan—home of the second-largest unreached people group in the world*—radio has become a critical channel for alerting, updating, and evacuating people in the event of a tsunami or earthquake.

This resurgence of radio gave TWR the opportunity to begin broadcasting a counselling program to minister to the needs of the people living there. In 2014, TWR added daily broadcasts of three new outreach programs—Power of Gospel, Blessing Japan, and Praise and Worship.

Local Japanese pastors, who are in the best position to understand the needs, partner with TWR to develop content for these programs. They are also able to establish relationships with listeners, helping engage them in the local church.

Historically, Japan has been a hard ground for the gospel but the ground has softened since the 2011 tsunami.
