TWR-Asia: Hong Kong
About The Partner
TWR-Hong Kong has been a key partner since 1977. Before 2004, the main responsibilities of TWR-Hong Kong were to produce programs in Mandarin, Hakka, Swatow and Cantonese, as well as coordinate the follow-up work for the whole China ministry by replying to listeners’ letters and emails. Following the TWR-Asia re-envisioning in 2005, the program scheduling duties for the China ministry was gradually moved from the Singapore Service Center to Hong Kong, and the final hand-over of program scheduling duties was completed in March 2008.
TWR-Hong Kong continues to translate and produce programs, and to do follow-up work. Recently, new software was installed to allow the follow-up team to receive text messages from listeners via mobile phones. TWR-Hong Kong is also continuing the program scheduling work for the China ministry, and to carry out fund-raising work in Hong Kong.
They also promote TWR’s ministry through newsletters, and visits to churches and pastors. In addition, they also share about TWR’s ministry during Sunday services and prayer meetings in churches.
TWR-Hong Kong celebrated 30 years of broadcast into China in 2007.
Projects
One of the main projects that began in 2005 was the program World of Love that was broadcast in China over FM radio. This is a joint effort with a counseling centre in China. A 24-hour counseling hotline was also set-up to help listeners. The program broadcast its third series in 2007.
Future Plans
TWR-Hong Kong will continue to translate and produce programs, do follow-up with listeners, program scheduling, as well as raise funds for TWR-Hong Kong and special projects for the China ministry.
TWR-Hong Kong aims to train a new generation of producers, and build a team that is good in translation and production.
We are also seeking to understand the needs of the audience better, and researching new media so that more people can be reached.
