TWR-Asia: Singapore
Migrant Population
Singapore’s prosperous economy, and an ever-growing demand for foreign labour to meet the manpower shortages has led to the population of transient or foreign migrant workers in Singapore rising to an estimated 1 million, working in various industries like construction, food & beverage, cleaning services, hospitals, etc. These are represented by many nations in the region viz. China, India (various people groups), Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. Many of them have made tremendous sacrifices to leave their families and homes behind to seek better job prospects in Singapore, often incurring hefty debts and being cheated by unscrupulous agents back home and here in Singapore. Facing extreme work and living conditions, long hours of hard labour and badly home sick and lonely, many are stressed and feeling trapped.
The opportunity to show love and care to the people from many nations that the Lord has brought to our shores in huge numbers, meeting their needs at various levels, particularly to come to the saving knowledge of the Lord who loves them and has a special plan and purpose for their lives. And then to see that they are discipled and released into full freedom in Christ, until they bear much fruit for the Lord and are themselves winning and making disciples for Christ.
HIV / AIDS
TWR has a focus on Holistic health issues worldwide and in Singapore, by coming alongside the Christian community and advocating for awareness/prevention and acceptance of those people living with HIVAIDS (PLWHA). We hope to encourage believers to extend their hands in support for these PLWHA, so that they are encouraged to seek God and live a life of hope in Christ. We do that by organizing talks and seminars, collaborating with other ministry and churches for outreaches to PLWHA.
